Staying True to Myself in a World of A.I. & ChatGPT

My intention was to write about another topic today but this specific topic came to me during my morning meditation and I recently learned that when Spirit calls, you jump on it.

So here we are, a topic that has actually been on my mind lately that I’ve yet to explore for myself- what A.I. means to me and how it fits into my life while on my own Personal Refinement journey, and what it can mean for you, too.

Just to be clear: This is not an “anti-A.I.” post.  I strive to remain open-minded in an ever changing world with its continually evolving ideas and its technological advances.

As someone who’s embarked on a spiritual path of self-discovery, self-love and authenticity, and now a proud business owner and content creator, I was first resistant to the thought of using “artificial intelligence” to aid me along in my human experience.

But why was I feeling resistant to using A.I.?

Was it because I spent the last 7 years of my life trying not to be a phony person in every area of my life to the best of my ability?

Yes.

But I also believe my resistance came from a fear of change.

I asked myself the common questions like…

- What does A.I. mean for the evolution of humanity?

- Will only the mega wealthy have access to brain chip implants that will allow them to have access to 100% of their brain? What about the rest of us?

-Where does spirituality and ascension fit into all this?

I have not yet explored deeper into these questions, or talked to another human being about it, but I know many others have.

Here’s the reality: A.I. is here to stay.

Here’s me getting vulnerable: Since A.I. is here to stay, “my fear of change” has evolved into a “fear of being left behind” with this ever changing technology.

But what I’ve realized is sometimes it’s easier to adapt and go with the flow rather than resisting to what is.

Change can be good, as long as you don’t lose yourself in the process- your morals and values and the sense of the truth in who you are.

So, with all things Personal Refinement, my goal is to find the balance in a way that helps me remain true to themself, while at the same time flexible to the reality of what is, which is:

knowing how to use A.I. and ChatGPT as a tool, in a safe way that doesn’t hinder my ability to think critically and creatively or take away from my truth and human essence.

As I’m writing this article in real time, I asked myself, “what is my definition of A.I.?”

My Answer: It’s a culmination of the world’s knowledge put into a database that is able to provide a human with answers and results at lightning speed. (I don’t know if this is even right.)

Now, I want to compare my own answer to what ChatGPT has to say:

My question entered into Chat GPT:

“What is the definition of Artificial Intelligence in layman’s terms?”

ChatGPT Answer (Snippet:) “when a computer or machine is build to act “smart” like a person - meaning it can learn from information, patterns, make decisions, or solve problems instead of just following strict step-by-step instructions.

A more in depth and smarter answer of course.

However, under the right circumstances, I do my best to formulate my own answer first before entering it into ChatGPT.

Another reason I felt called to write about this because I’m 9 months into building my Personal Refinement Coaching business and I’m in the marketing phase of its development.

I’m thinking of ways to strategically market myself and this business, while staying true to who I am and what my brand is all about.

I understand that I can easily get A.I. to write out articles and push out content for me but I’d feel like I’m cheating myself from what I know I’m capable of.

In addition, one of the hurdles I’m overcoming day by day is knowing that many creators are using A.I. to grow their business and are having massive success with it. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. A.I. is here to stay and many have used it to help them excel.

But one of the strongest boundaries I’ve created for myself with growing my business is to not have A.I. do the writing for me.

I’m proud to say that you can put the text of my website through an A.I. content detector and I’d pass for any kind of plagiarism.

(I’m done tooting my own horn.)

However, in all honesty, my images are A.I. generated because by drawing skills are literally at a ZERO.

And I’m very impressed with what A.I. I has come up with based on the prompts I gave it.

One of my favorite YouTubers is Diary of a CEO.  A topic in this interview that the host Steven Bartlett discusses with the Dr. Daniel Amen and Dr. Terry Sejnowski is about what ChatGPT is actually doing to our brains and creativity and how we can use it as as a tool to assist us in our endeavors rather than having it do the work for us.  I got a lot out of this interview. Click the link above.

In conclusion:

When it comes to writing,  I prefer to do the long cut and maintain my integrity with what I know I’m capable of because it just feels better.  This means less content and less engagement.  But that’s okay, because I see blogging as another form of self expression and it’s helping me process real life issues I’m going through in a creative and relatable way- IN REAL TIME.

I’M MAKING A PROMISE TO MYSELF AND ANYONE WHO CONTINUES TO READ MY CONTENT THAT I WILL NOT USE A.I. TO WRITE SENTENCES, PARAGRAPHS, OR WHOLE ARTICLES FOR ME, EVEN IF THAT MEANS NOT SOUNDING AS POLISHED OR INTELLIGENT.

Thanks for reading, have nice day.
